Ceiling Lights
in Kenya

Flush and semi-flush ceiling lights from KES 1,750. Unlike chandeliers and pendants, ceiling lights are often the least considered fixture in a room, and that is exactly why getting them right has such a visible effect.

The First Decision

Flush or semi-flush?

A flush mount sits flat against the ceiling, typically 5–10 cm total depth. It is the right choice for any room with a ceiling under 2.7 m, and for rooms where headroom is a priority. No gap between the fitting and the ceiling; a clean, unobtrusive result.

A semi-flush drops 10–20 cm and creates shadow and dimension that a flat fitting cannot. That small drop changes the character of the fixture entirely, it gains a presence that a flush mount simply doesn't have. Suitable for rooms with 2.7 m+ ceilings where some visual interest is wanted without committing to a pendant or chandelier.

If you're unsure, ask: does the room have other statement light sources? If yes, a flush mount is the right background fixture. If not, the semi-flush gives the room something to notice.

Sizing Rule

One-third of the room width

A ceiling light should be roughly one-third the width of the room. A 4 m wide bedroom suits a 35–40 cm fixture. A 5–6 m room calls for 50 cm+ or two smaller fittings evenly spaced. Undersized fixtures in large rooms look like an afterthought; oversized in small rooms feel oppressive.

Bedroom

The bedroom ceiling light sets the emotional register of the most personal room in the home. Warm white only, cool white in a bedroom disrupts melatonin and works against sleep. A tricolor LED fixture gives you the flexibility to use cooler tones when getting ready in the morning and warm tones in the evening.

Common Questions

Ceiling light FAQ

What is the difference between a flush and a semi-flush ceiling light?+

A flush mount sits flat against the ceiling at 5–10 cm total depth — the right choice for ceilings under 2.7 m and rooms where headroom matters. A semi-flush drops 10–20 cm, adding shadow and dimension; use it on 2.7 m-plus ceilings where you want some presence without a pendant or chandelier.

What size ceiling light do I need?+

Aim for roughly one-third of the room width. A 4 m wide bedroom suits a 35–40 cm fixture; a 5–6 m room calls for 50 cm or more, or two smaller fittings evenly spaced.

What is tricolor / tunable LED?+

An integrated-LED ceiling light with tricolor switching gives you warm (3000 K), neutral (4000 K) and cool (6500 K) white from the wall switch — no bulb changes, consistent output over about 50,000 hours. It lets one fixture suit a bright morning routine and a warm evening.

Which colour temperature should each room use?+

Warm white (2700–3000 K) in bedrooms and living rooms; neutral to cool (4000–5000 K) in kitchens and bathrooms for accurate colour rendering; neutral (4000 K) in hallways for clear sightlines. Avoid cool white in bedrooms — it works against sleep.

How much do ceiling lights cost in Kenya?+

Vintage and decorative ceiling roses start around KES 1,750. Modern LED flush mounts run KES 7,900–10,500, contemporary semi-flush fixtures KES 8,500–12,000, and large statement pieces KES 12,000–14,900.
